After an enforced absence of three years, Sgoil Chiùil Na Gàidhealtachd is back on the road. The S6 tour sees the 7 students performing in a short series of evening concerts, supplemented by daytime visits to schools for workshops and performances.
The tours are always a highlight of the school year, and give the students a great opportunity to get out and share their music, not only with the audiences, but also with the many young musicians they meet at workshops or who provide support at the gigs.
We’re also very grateful to Highland Coast Hotels for their very generous sponsorship in the form of free venues and accommodation.
The concerts will feature the students in various combinations, including them playing all together in a powerful finale. All of the youngsters are multi-talented and they play a wide variety of vocal and instrumental music, both traditional and contemporary. There really is something for everybody in the show.
The tour kicks off on Monday 27th March at Bogbain Farm, Inverness, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets for this are £12 full, £10 concession, and £5 for children, and they will be available on the door, or in advance from https://www.bogbainfarm.com.
The tour then moves up the east coast of the Highlands, thanks to some very generous support from the Community Liaison Programme of Highland Coast Hotels. On Tuesday 28th March we play the Royal Golf Hotel in Dornoch, and on Wednesday 29th, we stop off at the Royal Marine Hotel in Brora. Both of these events are free to enter, although a small donation would be greatly appreciated. They both start at 7:30 p.m.
Finally we go across country to visit old friends at Applecross, in Wester Ross. Plockton High School pupils from Applecross share accommodation with the music school pupils, and a strong bond between the two communities has built up over the years. That gig is at Applecross Community Hall on Thursday 30th March at 7:30, and tickets, priced £10 full, £6 concessions, and free for children, will be available on the door. This gig is also on Eventbrite – just search for Applecross.
